Tips on Creating Protection Oils:(subtitled: We made
the mistakes so you don't have to!)
- Create your blend of oils with essential oils at
100% strength in a
larger bottle or container, to about 3-5% of your capacity.
- Put some Vitamin E oil in your Essential Oil blend. Vitamin E oil is a natural
preservative that will keep your oil from turning rancid. A little goes a long way.
You can buy a bottle of Vitamin E capsules from any grocery or
pharmacy and squeeze the oil into the bottle. About 2 caps per .25 oz.
will do.
- Fill the rest of the bottle with a neutral carrier
oil such as grapeseed,
safflower, etc. Almost all food-grade cooking oils would be
appropriate.
The ratio should be about 95-98% carrier oil to 3-5% essential oil.
- Use a
pipette to fill the small bottles, this is much easier than trying
to
dump the oil in with a funnel.
- Cap tightly, wipe the outside clean if needed, and place in a small baggie.
- We wrap each bottle/baggie with a small address
label that has the
ingredients printed on it. If you don't want to make labels, please
include
a small paper that lists the ingredients (oils). In this way the
possible effects
of allergens or irritant oils can be avoided.
