Every organization that succeeds for any length of time does so because of its governing process. At Sacred Circle, we have a system of governance that – while first devised in 2003 – has undergone much evolution and improvement along the way.
Our governance system has two branches, the Elemental Offices, and the Board of Directors.
In keeping with our philosophy that no role in our organization is more important than any other, the Elemental Offices are all equal to each other and to the Directors.
We have done away with the more traditional hierarchical roles of corporate organizations, and have replaced them with the Offices and Board of Directors. This has created a harmonious environment in which we can work together for the greater good in a democratic system of checks and balances.
In addition to our governing body, we have an extensive document which outlines our policies and procedures. This document is regularly updated to adapt to changes in our environment, culture, and other concerns.
We meet monthly to ensure that our policies, programs, and events are on track.
Elemental Offices
Our Elemental Offices make up half of our governing body, and oversee the day-to-day needs of the Church. While each office is important to the makeup of the Church as a whole, no single Office is more important than another, and all contribute to the success of our organization.
- Office of Air – The Office of Air is responsible for all communication and administrative record keeping. They are also our official Media Liaison and point of contact.
- Office of Fire – The Office of Fire is our Events Coordinator and is responsible for making sure that our events happen. They also coordinate any workshops, seminars and outside events.
- Office of Water – The Office of Water is our acting Board Chair and presides over all business meetings and organizes our voting process. They also act as the official mediator.
- Office of Earth – The Office of Earth is our financial officer, coordinating and keeping track of all of our assets, budgets, donations and those things which make our Temple and events possible.
- Office of Spirit – The Office of Spirit is responsible for ensuring that all of our rituals take place, and serve any other spiritual needs of the Church and its members. They are also the head of our Clergy program and oversee ordinations.
Board of Directors
Our Directors serve as the other half of our governing body, along with the Elemental Offices. The Directors each have a vote and are actively involved in the daily workings of the Church. Active Directors can number from 3 to 9, depending on the current needs of Sacred Circle
